What is Lantern?

A home for the releaf stories. Each string of paper lanterns across Shoal Creek is a thread of stories; each lantern is one story. Tap a thread to see its stories and read any of them. Finish a story and its lantern stays lit.

Do I need the internet?

No. Every story is inside the app, so you can read anywhere.

Can I make the text bigger?

Yes. Lantern follows the text size you've set in Settings → Display & Brightness → Text Size (on Apple Watch, in the Watch's Display settings). Inside any story, the small and large A buttons make it smaller or larger again.

What is the walk?

Walk with 037 takes you down the creek at night with a lantern of your own. On Apple Watch, swing your arm to walk. On iPhone, hold a finger down to walk. Stand under a dark lantern, keep your hand still, and it catches; you keep a line from its story. At the library, the night's lines are read back to you.

My lantern went out

Shaky hands and a high wick make the flame gutter. Keep still for a moment and it relights. Turning the Digital Crown trims the wick: low is steady, high is bright.

Sound and haptics

Use the switches at the bottom of the creek to turn sound or haptics off.

Accessibility

Every story works with VoiceOver and with larger text sizes.
