Lighthouse is a lighthouse-keeping game for Apple Watch and iPhone. It does not collect, store on any server, share, or sell any personal information. It has no server to send anything to.
What the app uses on your device
- The compass. Lighthouse reads which way your Apple Watch or iPhone is facing to aim the beam. It uses Apple's Core Location framework for that heading only. The app does not ask for your location, does not know where you are, and does not read, save or send a position. The heading is used in the moment and is never stored or sent anywhere.
- Your logbook and settings. The shipwrecks your lost ships have written into the logbook, whether you have pinched the Northeast Lights chart yet, and your sound and haptics switches are saved on each device only. Nothing is synced between your iPhone and your Watch.
- Sound and haptics. The bell and the wind are recordings that ship inside the app. The app does not use the microphone. The taps on your wrist or in your hand are not recorded.
- Photographs and history. Every photograph, wreck story and lighthouse page ships inside the app. The links on those pages (the sources, the photo page and the group that keeps a light standing) are ordinary links: when you tap one, your browser opens Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, a government archive or that group's own website, each under its own privacy policy. Lighthouse sends nothing along with the tap.
What the app does not do
- No accounts or sign-in
- No network connection of its own (the links above open in your browser)
- No advertising and no third-party SDKs
- No analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services of its own
- No location, microphone, camera, contacts or photo library access
Beta testing. While Lighthouse is on TestFlight, Apple's TestFlight app tells the studio when you install a build, passes along crash reports, and sends any feedback you choose to write, under Apple's own policy. That comes from TestFlight, not from Lighthouse.
Children. Lighthouse collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes. If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
