Four Paces
You step through the gap. The clearing is mown to a circle. The sheet on the left is a fitted sheet, and its corners keep coming up.
The nearest is four paces off. Sewn into its hem is a strip of white tape, the kind that goes into a child's coat for camp. Nothing is written on it.
On the far side the hedge opens on a path, five steps from where you stand. You take one, and the nearest sheet takes one. Three paces.
- Walk straight across to the path. (for now this door opens on The Witch)
- If you wrote down NAMED, say the name you left in the Log.
- Step back out through the gap. (for now this door opens on The Cabinet)
